A day in Dresden
This round trip is about 386 km and requires under 4 hours total driving time.
Dresden
As Dresden is well within a days excursion it should be planned in during your stay here.
With large sections of it destroyed during WWII it is slowly coming back to it’s former splendor and it is actually surprising how much of the old treasures and artworks did survive the Cold War.
The Dresden tourism website will give you an oversight of the most important sights.
Jump on one of the Double Decker busses for one of the sightseeing excursions with an audio guide. Afterwards roam around all the sights like the Bruehl Terrace or visit the Green Vault.

On the way there you could take a short detour in Meissen to take a tour at the porcelain factory, which adds about 20 km to your route.
A side trip to wooden toy making town of Seiffen, which adds about 50 km, is also well worth it.
