The Czech Republic is so close and Prague could be a tempting Day trip!
A few points to ponder if you decide to visit the Czech Republic:
- Zero alcohol tolerance when driving, even one beer/glass of wine is too much.
- Make sure the vehicle you rented is allowed to cross the border. Many higher priced
cars with automatic transmission are still restricted from crossing the border.
- You are entering another country, take along your passport!
- Drive with your headlights on, even during the day!
- If buying restricted items, such as cigarettes and alcohol do not go over the limit!
You can be pulled over by the German border patrol anywhere in Germany and the fines
are stiff.
- Beware of knock offs, many items are not the real thing.
- In general gas, cigarettes and booze are cheaper over there.
- Speed limits in the Czech Republic are as follows: City 50 kph, Open Roads 90 kph,
Highways 130 kph
- Cars are required to have a toll sticker to travel on the expressways.
Going over there to eat might give you a different dining experience.
There are many good restaurants in the nearby Czech towns.
